You’ve been told mindset is everything.
That if you just fix your energy, sales will come. But… what if that’s not true?
What if the reason you’re not signing clients isn’t because your mindset is “off”, but because your messaging isn’t doing its job?
🚨 Hot take: Your messaging is the reason you’re not signing clients, not your mindset.
And no amount of journaling, meditating, or high-vibe playlists will change your bank account if your messaging is unreliable and scattered af.
The online coaching world loves to preach if you just “align your abundance energy”, sales will magically appear.
But the truth? Your mindset WILL ebb and flow, but your messaging is what makes sure your business continues to make money – even when you’re not feeling 100%.
Some days, you’ll feel unstoppable. Other days, you’ll want to burn it all down. (Hi, been there, done that, got a t-shirt, and b/tch, I’m BACK!)
When your messaging is dialed in for your specific offers and community, you don’t have to rely on feeling good to sell – your messaging sells and scales for you.

The ‘Mindset Over Messaging’ Myth
If you’ve ever felt like your mindset is the only thing standing between you and more sales, you’re not alone.
The online coaching world is obsessed with mindset work. Everywhere you turn, there’s another mindset coach, another set of journaling prompts, another abundance meditation promising to unlock your next income level.
And while mindset is important, the overemphasis on it has made it seem like your thoughts alone determine your success.
- If you’re not signing clients, it must be because you don’t have an abundance mindset.
- If your income is inconsistent, it’s because you haven’t done enough inner work.
- And if you’re not going viral, it has to be because you’re playing small.
And so, business owners get stuck in a cycle of self-blame, constantly trying to fix your mindset instead of fixing what actually moves the needle: your messaging.
It’s easy to believe this myth because working on your mindset feels productive. It’s comforting to think that if you just journal long enough, visualize hard enough, or “act as if” enough, success will naturally follow.
But here’s the thing: your audience isn’t inside your head. They’re not reading your journal entries or reading context clues.
They’re looking at your words, your offers, and your ability to clearly communicate why they should work with you.
And if your messaging is vague, confusing, or inconsistent, it won’t matter how “high vibe” gaslight yourself into feeling…people still won’t buy.
Believing this myth keeps you stuck in an endless loop of self-doubt and self-improvement.
Instead of tweaking your messaging to make your offers the clear, no-brainer next step for your soulmate clients, you keep trying to “fix” yourself.
You spend hours journaling about your limiting beliefs, meditating for grounded abundance, and trying to shift your energy (when in reality, it’s your messaging that needs shifting).
And because you know mindset isn’t consistent no matter how much you work at it(because hi, you’re human with human flows), your sales feel just as inconsistent.
→ On the days you feel great, you show up and fingers crossed sign a client.
→ But on the days you feel off? You disappear, convinced no one will buy from you if you’re not in peak energetic alignment.
The result? A rollercoaster business where your income depends on how you feel…which is the fastest way to burn out.
When you finally stop putting all the pressure on your mindset and start prioritizing your messaging, your business stops relying on your energy levels and starts running like an actual business.
Your content, your sales pages, and your emails will all start doing the selling for you, regardless of whether you’re having a “good” mindset day or not.
That means more consistent clients, more income, and more time off without income dips.
Instead of spending your time trying to get into the right mindset before you sell, you can just… sell.
You can wake up feeling tired, grumpy, or full of imposter syndrome and still have messaging that does the heavy lifting. And that is what gives you true freedom in your business.

Why Messaging Matters More Than Your Mindset (And How I Know This To Be True)
Look, I get why the mindset-first approach sounds so convincing. It’s empowering to believe that the only thing standing between you and wild success is your own energy.
It makes success feel personal, like something you can meditate, journal, or visualize your way into.
But here’s the problem: when sales aren’t coming in, this mindset myth convinces you that you are the problem.
Instead of looking at your messaging – the actual bridge between you and your next client – you spiral into self-blame, thinking you need to “fix” yourself to sell more. And that keeps you stuck where you’re at way longer than necessary.
Because the reality is, sales don’t come from perfect energy. They come from specific messaging for your specific community about your specific offers.
I know this to be true because if mindset alone created sales, ya girl would NOT be a successful business owner bc let my luteal or menstrual phase hit and I am NOT a high vibe honey.
But my offers don’t need a day off because my messaging sells even when I don’t want to.
I’ve had days where I felt like trash, tired, frustrated, full of imposter syndrome, and still signed clients. Still made money. Still went viral.
Not because my energy was “high vibe,” but because my messaging was clear, specific, and bold.
My audience doesn’t need me to show up radiating sunshine and abundance; they need to see messaging that speaks directly to their problems and makes the decision to work with me a no-brainer.
And that has nothing to do with how I feel that day and everything to do with how well my messaging does its job.
I’ve also watched too many brilliant business owners struggle, not because they lacked belief, but because their messaging was vague af and all over the place.
They were journaling daily, continuously listening to affirmations, meditating…and still hearing crickets when they talked about their offers.
Not because they weren’t “aligned,” but because their audience has no idea what they actually do or why it matters to them.
The moment we get specific, make their offers clearer, position them with authority throughout their messaging, their sales shift.
My clients make money and sign clients without a business where they have to be “on” 24/7 with #highvibesonly.
You don’t want to rely on always feeling good to sell, and I don’t want my clients to, either.
When you have spot-on messaging selling your offers, you can take a break, be in a funk, and go live your life without worrying that your income will disappear the second your energy dips.
That’s the kind of business I want for myself, and that’s the kind of business I help my clients build.
One where mindset is allowed to be messy because your messaging stays strong.
How To Improve Your Messaging (Regardless of Your Mindset)
Ohhh, this is where it gets good because once you break free from the “mindset over it all” myth, you start making shifts that finally move the needle (and may even break the scale!!!).
Here’s what service providers, coaches, and other online entrepreneurs do differently once they realize mindset isn’t the end-all, be-all of success:
1. Stop Asking “Should I Be Manifesting Harder?” and Start Asking “Is My Messaging Clear?”
No more staring at your vision board and wondering when it’s coming true. Instead, ask:
✅ Is what I offer crystal clear? (Like, would a 10-year-old get it?)
✅ Does my audience instantly know what problem I solve? (Or are they going on a wild goose chase for details?
✅ Would I buy this based on the way I’m talking about it? (And if I wouldnt, what WOULD make me buy rn?)
Because guess what? Your messaging, not your morning affirmations, is what makes someone hit buy. Fix that, and the sales start rolling in.
2. Create a Plethora of Messaging That Sells (Even When You’re in a Funk)
Your business shouldn’t require you to be “on” 25/8. With the right messaging, you can:
🔥 Post something once and have people DMing you about working together.
🔥 Step away from your laptop and still attract clients.
🔥 Have content and sales pages that do the selling for you.
You don’t need to force yourself to be high-energy all the dang time, you just need messaging that works regardless of how you feel (even when you don’t want to show up at allll).
3. Let Your Messaging Build Your Confidence, Not the Other Way Around
Forget waiting until you feel confident to sell.
The more people say, “OMG, I need this!” the easier it is to show up and sell on the days they aren’t. But that only happens when your messaging is:
✅ Specific AF: No vague, wishy-washy language. Say it with your chest.
✅ Clear & intriguing: Make it easy for people to see why they need this now.
✅ Consistent: Stop doing everything you can to reinvent the wheel every time you talk about your offer.
When your messaging is solid, selling becomes easy, natural, and fun. And that’s exactly what I help my 1:1 clients create.

I Made Four Figures on the Last Day of My Launch (Even When My Brain Said “Just Give Up”)
I was retiring a freelancing offer, it’s the last day of my close-out launch, and I’ve been selling for a month straight.
My brain is fried. My mindset? Checked out. That little voice in my head is whispering, “We don’t have to show up today. It’s the last day anyway. If they were going to buy, they would have bought by now.”
But instead of listening to that voice, I let my messaging work. I sent the emails and posted the content.
And guess what? My messaging brought in four figures in sales on the very last day.
Not because I had the perfect mindset. Not because I “aligned my energy.” But because my messaging was clear and consistent.
If I had relied on feeling good to sell that day (or most of that close-out launch, tbh), I would have left money and clients on the table.
Instead, I showed up, stuck to my strategy, and my messaging did what it was designed to do: convert.
This is why your messaging matters more than your mindset. Because even when your energy dips, even when your brain is tired, even when imposter syndrome is telling you to stop, your messaging can (and will) keep making you money.
Why Mindset Is an Easier Sell – And Why That’s a Problem
The reason so many business coaches push mindset above all else is because it’s easier to sell than actual strategy.
Telling you that you are the reason you’re not making sales – that your energy is off, your mindset isn’t “high vibe” enough, or your limiting beliefs are blocking success – keeps you stuck in an endless loop of self-improvement instead of actually improving your skills.
Because let’s be real: If you believe the problem is you, you’ll keep buying mindset courses, energy recalibration programs, and journaling prompts like your business depends on it. (Because you think it does.)
You become a lifelong buyer of “fixing yourself” instead of becoming a lifelong seller of your actual offers.
Mastering messaging, on the other hand, makes you dangerously self-sufficient.
- It means you know exactly how to talk about your offers in a way that converts.
- It means you can sell on demand, no matter how you feel that day.
- It means you don’t have to rely on some external coach to “unlock” your next level.
And that’s bad for the coaches who want you dependent on them, but amazing for your sustainable business.
So ask yourself: Do you want to keep buying into the idea that you’re the problem, or do you want to master the skill that will make you more money and allow you to help more humans with your solutions and answers? Because the moment you shift from mindset-first to messaging-first, that’s what happens.
Start Selling Messaging-First And Let The Rest Come Together Naturally
If you take one thing away from this, let it be this: you are not the problem – your messaging is.
Mindset work has its place, but relying on it to drive sales is an exhausting, inconsistent strategy that keeps you stuck in self-doubt instead of messy action.
Your business should not live and die by how “high vibe” you feel that day.
When your messaging is clear and consistent, sales happen even on your off days.
